(Ante Scriptum: update a year later)
Today I’ve finally cut my hair.
Despite a lot of “Gosh no!!! So brave” and likely, I’m happy I did it, my hair is still pretty long and please know that they’ll grow back.
Sadly this is not true for everyone, some time ago, by chance (like it always is on the net) I heard about this association: Locks of love, that accepts hair donations to make wigs for kids undergoing chemotherapy
I thought it was a wonderfoul thing and I decided to be part of it.
I know that there are some controversies too, but if you read their site throuhgly, everything is stated clearly: hair that cannot be used to make wigs will be sold to pay for manufacturing costs. I’d say this is a wonderful way to deal with it!
So, shortly, here’s what’s needed:
Lock of hair, at least 10 inches (25,5 cm) of clean and dry hair (dye, perm or henna -I’ve asked personally for henna- is ok; bleached or gray hair will be sold to pay costs 😉 ), transparent envelope like the one in the picture and padded envelope to send.
Anyway you’ll find all the infos and addresses on their website, including the form to print out and write back if you want notice that you’re donation has been received.
I’ll let you know when I’ll get mine!
